More info I found out:
Unfortunately, the codes do not prove that a product does (or does not) originate in a particular country.  This is because products can be made, or grown, in one country and then processed in another, where the bar code is actually assigned.

If food grown in China, or other tainted products made there, are shipped to other countries for final packaging before coming to the U.S., the bar code will show the final country, not the country of origin. So in the case of, for example, Chinese apple juice that’s shipped here and then packaged and sold by U.S. companies, those packages are going to have a U.S. code, not a Chinese code.

So relying on the bar code will not keep people safe from Chinese (or other foreign) products that are toxic or otherwise unsafe. The best way to find out where something came from is still to look for the “Made in [Country XYZ]” label on the packaging.

Here is the link for anyone who wants to read further about it:

Look For The “0″!

***************

ALWAYS READ THE LABELS ON THE FOODS YOU BUY–
NO MATTER WHAT THE FRONT OF THE BOX OR
PACKAGE SAYS, TURN IT OVER AND
READ THE BACK—CAREFULLY!
With all the food and pet products now coming from China,
it is best to make sure you read label at the grocery store and
especially Walmart when buying food products.
Many products no longer show where they were made, only give
where the distributor is  located.
It is important to read the bar code to track it’s origin.
How to read Bar Codes …. interesting!
This may be useful to know when grocery shopping, if it’s a concern to you.
GREAT WAY TO “BUY USA   &  CANADA “ AND NOT FROM  CHINA!!

The whole world is concerned about China-made “black hearted goods”.
Can you differentiate which one is made in Taiwan or  China?

If the first 3 digits of the barcode are 690 691 or 692, the product is
MADE IN  CHINA.
471 is Made in Taiwan .
This is our right to know, but the government and related departments
never educate the public, therefore we have to RESCUE ourselves.

Nowadays, Chinese businessmen know that consumers do not prefer
products “MADE IN CHINA “, so they don’t show from which country it
is made.
However, you may now refer to the barcode – remember if the first 3 digits are:

690-692 … then it is MADE IN CHINA
00 – 09
  USA & CANADA
30 – 37
  FRANCE
40 – 44  GERMANY
471 …  Taiwan
49
… JAPAN
50   UK

BUY
US& CANADIAN MADE by watching for0” at the beginning of the number.

We need every boost we can get!  Pass this on to everybody on your E-Mail Contact List!!

Anti-inflammatory foods may help you reduce inflammation. The symptoms of inflammation include swelling, redness and pain.

Anti-Inflammatory Diet
An anti-inflammatory diet focuses on foods that help your body create the right kind of prostaglandins, or hormones that help the body regulate inflammation. In part, you want to eat foods that have the right types of fat so that your body will make anti-inflammatory prostaglandins and avoid the foods that have fat that leads to the production of inflammatory prostaglandins.

Good Anti-Inflammatory Foods
You will want to eat foods that are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, an acid that is important to your health that your body is incapable of manufacturing. Not only can foods that have omega-3 fatty acids help reduce inflammation, these foods may help reduce the risks of developing heart disease, osteoporosis and high blood pressure. Foods that contain omega-3 fatty acids include:

  • Salmon
  • Trout
  • Albacore tuna
  • Walnuts
  • Brazil nuts
  • Almonds

Wild fish tends to have more omega-3 fatty acids than do farm raised fish.

In addition, look for foods that have high levels of vitamins A, C and E. There are many foods that are good sources of these vitamins, including:

  • Garbanzo beans
  • Brown rice
  • Lentils
  • Broccoli
  • Cantaloupe
  • Tomatoes
  • Spinach
  • Sweet potatoes
  • Carrots
  • Peaches
  • Strawberries

Where would foods be without spices? Anti-inflammatory spices can add “zing” to your meals. Experiment with spices including:

  • Cinnamon
  • Rosemary
  • Mint
  • Basil
  • Cloves
  • Ginger
  • Turmeric
  • Parsley
  • Oregano

If you use oils, focus on extra virgin olive oil.

Try to avoid eating processed foods as much as possible as processed foods contain polyunsaturated and partly hydrogenated fats, a big no-no as far as inflammation and your health overall.

An anti-inflammatory diet is basically a healthy, low fat diet. Not only might you feel fewer aches and pains if you include more of these foods in your meals, you may also lose weight

Thanks to mass fluoridation of our municipal water supplies and inclusion of man-made fluoride in toothpastes and other dental and consumer products, most of us regularly consume dangerous amounts of unnatural fluoride compounds. Despite claims of dental health improvement, such fluoride actually leads to worse dental health as well as a host of other very serious health consequences. Though it may be next to impossible to avoid fluoride entirely, there are many steps one can take to avoid much of the fluoride we consume as well as eliminate existing fluoride in our bodies. The Amazing Drinkable Flower That Lowers Stress and Builds Your Bones
Nutrition by .

There’s no denying. We live in a stressful world, and this can unfortunately affect a lot more than just our mood. As I write in the Save Our Bones Program, stress actually hurts our bones because,

“Stress is an acidifying process because of cortisol, a hormone produced by the adrenal glands. The secretion of cortisol has the same effect on the alkaline/acid balance as when you eat highly acidifying foods” (more…)

Pass the Butter, Please!!

Having Worked at Unilevers Premier Margarine Factory in the UK for 1 Year, as a Management Trainee, and then in Sri Lanka Managing Margarine Manufacture, I can safely admit that what you are about to read is true !!

Pass The Butter …. Please.

This is interesting . … .

Margarine was originally manufactured to fatten turkeys.  When it killed the turkeys, the people who had put all the money into the research wanted a payback so they put their heads together to figure out what to do with this product to get their money back.

It was a white substance with no food appeal so they added the yellow colouring and sold it to people to use in place of butter.  How do you like it?   They have come out with some clever new flavourings….

DO  YOU KNOW.. The difference between margarine and butter?

Read on to the end…gets very interesting!

Both  have the same amount of calories.

Butter is slightly higher in saturated fats at 8 grams; compared to 5 grams for margarine.

Eating
margarine can increase  heart disease in women by  53%  over  eating the same amount of butter, according to a recent  Harvard  Medical Study.

Eating butter increases the absorption of many other nutrients in  other foods.

Butter has many nutritional benefits where margarine has a few and only because  they are added!

Butter tastes much better than margarine and it can enhance the flavours of other foods.

Butter has been around for centuries where margarine has been around for less than 100 years.

And now, for Margarine..

Very High in Trans fatty acids

Triples risk of coronary heart disease …

Increases  total cholesterol  and LDL  (this is the bad cholesterol) and  lowers HDL cholesterol, (the good cholesterol)

Increases the risk of cancers up to five times..

Lowers quality of breast milk

Decreases immune response

Decreases insulin response.

And  here’s the most disturbing fact… HERE IS THE PART THAT  IS  VERY INTERESTING!

Margarine is but ONE MOLECULE away from being PLASTIC… And shares 27 ingredients with PAINT

These facts alone were enough to have me avoiding margarine for life and anything else that is hydrogenated (this means hydrogen is added, changing the molecular structure of the substance).

Open a tub of margarine and leave it open in your garage or shaded area.  Within a couple of days you will notice a couple of things:

*  no flies, not even those pesky fruit flies will go near it (that should tell you something)

*  it does not rot or smell differently because it has   no nutritional value ; nothing will grow on it. Even those teeny weeny microorganisms will not a find a home to grow.  Why?   Because it is nearly plastic .  Would you melt your Tupperware and spread that on your toast?

Share This With Your Friends…..(If you want to butter them up’)!

Chinese Proverb:

When someone shares something of value with you and you benefit from it,  you have a  moral obligation to share it with others.

Pass the BUTTER PLEASE

Celery is more than just a low calorie snack you eat when dieting, it can also help you lower blood pressure.
Celery contains apigenin, a substance know to help lower high blood pressure.  One studies found a reduced blood pressure in 14 out of 16 individuals that were given celery.

Here are some options to take advantage of the benefits of celery:

  1. Eat 4 celery stalks each day.
  2. Consume 8 teaspoons of celery juice 3 times a day.
  3. Take 1000 mg of celery seed extract twice a day.
  4. Take ½ to 1 teaspoon of celery oil 3 times a day in tincture form.

The above recommendations come from Dr. Mark Houston.  Discuss all supplements with your MD!

Spice Up Your Oatmeal

Spice Up Your Oatmeal

Sometimes, especially when I’m running late (and my stomach’s growling), I can’t help but pick up a gooey muffin or buttery bagel from the nearest coffee chain on my way to work. So, in an attempt to clean up my breakfast routine, I bought a few extra large, combo packs of Quaker instant oatmeal a few months ago.

Packed with soluble fibre and whole grains, oats can help prevent heart disease and lower cholesterol. And you’ll be proud to know that my oatmeal kick is still going strong! But as anyone that eats plain oatmeal for breakfast, day in and day out, can attest: it can get pretty boring.

That’s why I’ve been brainstorming new ways to take it from ho-hum to heavenly. Here are 3 ways to spice up your oatmeal (and stay fueled until lunch):

1. A teaspoon of peanut butter is my latest discovery. It will seriously transform your oatmeal in just a spoonful.

2. With a drizzle of maple syrup or honey, you can give your morning a super sweet start.

3. The possibilities are endless when adding in dried or fresh fruit and chopped nuts. There are so many options to play with, from dried cranberries and walnuts to freshly chopped strawberries, that you can create a new mix each time.
